Kinetic sand in the sensory bin is amazing. If you have not explored this stuff yet, you simply must. It’s a sensory experience for kids (and grown ups) of all ages! During our transportation theme, I found some mini construction vehicles and recalled our alphabet construction sensory bin that we had awhile back. I used a similar idea, except did not add the letters and changed the vehicles. But it was loved just as much, if not more. The teacher in me also loves that this is a playful way to strengthen fine motor skills!

That’s because our entire preschool shares materials, and we use them as much as we can. I’m not exactly sure who had this sand last, or why they put stars in it, but we don’t get picky about these things. I love that we can get as much use as we can out of our materials since we are on a budget!
They were intrigued by how the sand felt in their hands, and loved packing it into the beds of the trucks. The preschoolers then created a challenge to see what size rocks would fit into the beds of the trucks as well.
And they had to work on sharing space, making sure everyone had enough sand.
