I once worked with a teacher who was a genius at using recyclables. She amazed me at the ideas she came up with! Each year she would come up with simple ornaments made with recycled materials. Many years later, I hope these ornaments still adorn those family Christmas trees! For this particular ornament, we used recycled plastic lids and Christmas wrap. Simple, right? Read on to see just how easy these are to make! This post contains affiliate links for your convenience.
Preparing this activity:
Place a small hole at the edge of each plastic lid. Make a loop with some string of your choice. Cut out pieces of recycled gift wrap. You can add some stickers or foam pieces, too. Whatever you happen to have on hand! You can just just about any very small objects. We chose santa penguins that were recycled from tissue paper after last Christmas. We also had some glittery foam stars in our supply drawer.
Inviting the children to create their ornaments:
Make sure to wrap your child’s gift in a handmade gift bag!
