We display them in baskets. There is something about jingle bells during Christmas that is so festive! Yes, they can be used as an instrument while moving and singing to music. But how about some Christmas Fine Motor Fun with jingle bells? We have a variety of sizes from teeny tiny ones (not for toddlers or those who still put things into their mouths) to jumbo bells that barely fit in the palm of small hands. I thought I’d share a few ways we use jingle bells with our fine motor activities. Perhaps it’s from my childhood love for Christmas, when we’d ring them to music. I’ve carried that love into our toddler and preschool classroom, where I enjoy putting together a variety of activities that involve jingle bells.

Using large jingle bells:
Large jingle bells are fun to hold in the palms of the hands. Fingers have to wrap around them to stay in place. They are also our safest choice with our 2 year olds. And transport them with various gadgets.
Jingle bells can be moved using tongs and placed into sectioned trays.
Smaller jingle bells:
We love using smaller jingle bells with magnets on our science shelf.
