You know all those plastic Easter eggs that you’ve acquired over the years? Don’t toss them! Instead, try this toddler fun spring painting with eggs. It’s super easy to set up! Many years ago my former co-teacher had a gift for creating unique art ideas. One of her favorites was using a cardboard box lid and having the children move it to make the paint spread. She did this in many different ways, but the one I loved most was when it involved painting with eggs. Young children love to move, so these types of activities work their upper bodies while they concentrate on moving the box lid in several directions. And….this is so super simple! Who doesn’t like simple? When you see how few materials you’ll need, you will want to give this a try. What you will need:
Plastic eggs Tempera paint (we used a few colors) Paper Box lid or some sort of container with sides
Getting Started: I placed the paint into a container and added a spoon and the plastic egg. I cut paper into oval shapes. Get the egg moving! Our preschoolers held onto the sides of the box lid and moved it up and down, back and forth. They loved watching the egg move, leaving a paint trail. There is so much going on here, with the coordination of holding onto the box lid and moving it back and forth. If you are offering different colors, they can repeat the process each time! Fun, right? Well, that’s what my preschoolers would say.
