One our favorite activities is painting with frozen sparkly watercolors, year-round! However, this activity was extra-special recently during our Frozen (the movie) theme camp. It was a hit with each of the 3 age groups (3, 4 and 5) and simple to set up. We love to paint in preschool. We’ve tried many different types of paint, on different types of paper, with all kinds of brushes and utensils. This frozen sparkly paint activity is also a science experiment, as we see what happens when we put the sparkly paint into the freezer and notice how it’s changed when we remove it the next day. As the sparkly paint melts, it changes. The preschoolers were fascinated!

Frozen Sparkly Watercolors
What you will need:
confetti paint small containers doll pins paper
Fill the small containers with water and add some paint. Add the doll pins and place them in the freezer until solid.
After they are frozen, remove from freezer and let sit at room temperature until you can pull the ice out of the container.
Use the doll pin as a handle as you glide the ice across the paper.
As the ice thaws, the glitter is released along with the watercolors on the paper.
The preschoolers would leave and return, several times, to see how much more liquid had accumulated on their papers.
